The star, the Cosmos, the dark and brilliant infinity, has “an eye that sees itself.”
Has many an eye, all one eye, the everything welcoming a full tilt of All That Is; Unity shattered into a thousand, million fractions that are each the eye of It all, a hologram, a journey, an expression, an experiment.
An eye, and an “I” – the I that is “I am,” flowering into every atom and every cell and every sound and every breath; layers and layers of interweaving Cosmos playing hide and seek with itself.
I am here and over here and here again, every here, a wholeness and center.
I remember reading in a book I happened upon in College, Mircea Eliade’s The Sacred and the Profane, describing how everywhere, every here is the Center of the Cosmos. That Infinity – whatever It is – expands outward from every center.
This expression did not confuse me then, and I still do not look for the logic in it. Because somehow the eye of the “I” is familiar with this reality, recognizes the truth of Its own, Her own, center… everywhere.
I like the switch. I am ready for the switch, not even restless for it, as I am finding smoother waters after a very bumpy ride, and now come out the other side… As if something, someone, has been shed, and I speak with another voice, in service of another voice. A foot in this realm, a wholeness in another.
Breath – breathing – air; time to float for a moment wrapped in the magic of being, celebrating that first – the magic of being – among all experience, so that any circumstance, any new territories, occurrences, sights and sounds, are reason to celebrate: the eye of the “I” reveling in the infinite ongoingness unfolding everywhere, an abundance beyond measure, and a miracle so intimate that there is no place outside of it.
I breathe, I sigh, I hear screaming, joyful children playing outside. Spontaneous ecstasy, pure expression, freedom, lost in and to the moment.
At any age, we are forever beginners.
