Contemplating Higher Dimensions
Issue: 17 | February 15, 2024
From the Editors

In this issue we present a number of perspectives on the possibility of higher dimensions for you to contemplate. The idea that we might live in a multiverse of many dimensions is becoming increasingly common in popular science fiction books and movies, but the idea was first developed by the physicists who were trying to understand the impossible findings of quantum physics in the 1950’s.

To explore this theme we spoke with three people who have valuable perspectives on the subject. The first is the philosopher Timothy Morton who has coined the term hyperobjects to describe physical objects that extend into higher dimensions of reality. Next we spoke with John Gribbin who has authored many popular science books including some that touch on, and one that is devoted to, the idea of higher dimensions of reality. Finally we spoke with Rudy Rucker whose popular writing on the fourth dimensions is one of the best introductions to the subject available.

The featured artist for this issue is Chris Lander, whose otherworldly images set the stage for our exploration.

We round off the issue with an excerpt from Jeff Carreira’s latest book and some excellent contributions from members of The Mystery School.

We hope you enjoy the issue.
