Question

1. What is the difference between noticing my "idle" not doing anything else (say in sitting meditation) and continuing to notice it while I am going about my daily life?
2. What strikes me about what you speak about is how sometimes the way something is seen is true, but merely partial i.e. not the whole picture. Is this the nature of the beast, or is it an invitation to not rest on my laurels i.e. to continue to question if there is any other way of looking at it?

Hi Angela

Here are some thoughts for you.

1. What is the difference between noticing my "idle" not doing anything else (say in sitting meditation) and continuing to notice it while I am going about my daily life?
Ultimately there is no difference between the two, of course paying attention to your idle is harder when we are busy because it is harder to not do anything when you are busy. Ultimately they are the same thing because YOU are never doing anything anyway, but it takes a while to see that clearly.

2. What strikes me about what you speak about is how sometimes the way something is seen is true, but merely partial i.e. not the whole picture. Is this the nature of the beast, or is it an invitation to not rest on my laurels i.e. to continue to question if there is any other way of looking at it?

Yes, true but partial is the nature of the beast, the idea of true implies that there is only one reality, but reality is multi-dimensional so it can hold many truths and many of those will be contradictory.
