Nature, Ecology and Spirituality

From the Editors

From the start, there were two people we most wanted to speak with about this issue, Nora Bateson and Timothy Morton. These two unusual and brilliant ecological thinkers provided us with original and powerful viewpoints on the profoundly interconnected nature of reality. They both offer guidance for how humanity can move beyond the turmoil we so often see in our world, and although they came to their conclusions from different directions, you will see that they converge on a remarkably similar idea about the way forward. These interviews felt important enough to merit a joint introduction by Jeff Carreira to highlight the trajectory of thought that each of these luminaries is on and the similarity of the conclusions they have both come to.

Josephine Winsor is our featured artist, whose beautiful paintings, inspired by her own spiritual life and mystical experiences, depict the many ways that nature reveals its cosmic patterns.

Additionally, we have some wonderful contributions from members of The Mystery School. Judith Marsden offers a written piece that explains the delicate “system of systems” that is the human body, Maria Decsy contributes a beautiful prose poem that illuminates the interconnected oneness that arises in each and every moment, and there are several artworks from other members as well.

We hope you enjoy the issue.
