We will be housed in a one-of-a-kind historic villa on the banks of the Minho river in Seixas, Portugal, just outside of Caminha do Minho. The villa was built in 1911 as a gift from a global businessman for his beloved wife. You can feel his adoration and care in the beautiful inlaid floors, hand carved African hardwood bannisters, and original furnishings.
Each guest room, equipped with private bath, is spacious, unique, and filled with grace. The regal nature of Villa Idalina honors our practice, serving as an external reminder of the preciousness of our commitment to pursuing our higher human potentials.
Villa Idalina's onsite chef will take exceptional care of us, providing three meals a day of fresh, wholesome, local cuisine, always with a vegetarian option.
We are a 5-minute walk from the Portuguese coastal Caminho Santiago route, the renowned Christian pilgrimage trail where seekers still come from all corners of the world to connect with themselves and the divine, as they have done for centuries. The Minho river, alongside the trail, invites early morning dips for the bold, and benches for quiet communion for the rest of us.
This mountainous area of Northern Portugal is very special. The land is alive and the ionized air blows in fresh from the Atlantic. Six hundred years ago, area villagers provided sanctuary for those hiding from the Spanish Inquisition. Prior to Roman forays into this remote region, Celtic mystics left cairns and sanctuaries. And long before that, it was home to Neanderthals who left signs of their early gatherings.
- Participants are asked to keep noble silence from 10 PM - 8 AM to allow our exploration of consciousness to keep working in us.
- During meals and contemplation sessions, please keep conversations to our topics at hand or related themes. For the time of the retreat, let's take advantage of this short period where, like the monastics of old, we have left our home life and walked into homelessness where our cares and conversations center around the cultivation of inner freedom.
- Some participants may choose to stay in silence outside the main sessions for one or all of the days. We will have In Loving Silence tags. Please respect this choice.
- Please leave aside work tasks, emails, phone calls, news, and social media for the duration of the retreat. Upon registration, we will send you our contact information should anyone need to reach you during this time together.

The retreat begins with registration at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6th, followed by dinner at 6:00 PM and the opening session at 7:15 PM. The retreat ends at 12:00 PM on Sunday, October 11th.
The structure of the retreat is designed to allow for meditation, individual and group contemplation, and connection. Our shared focus will create a container that amplifies the current of meditation and there will be plenty of time for personal reflection.
