Training in Eden Energy Medicine, and more recently working with Prune Harris, is an action of service in the community, while also being an ever-deepening embodiment practice for myself and my clients. Embodiment in this case refers especially to the energy body, so including the physical body but also more subtle aspects of the aura, the chakras, the meridians, the extraordinary channels, the rhythms, and the deep core that connects us to the Earth, the Heavens, our own soul and the world soul. The energy body operates both vertically – those core connections to Earth and Sky – and horizontally to other people and other life forms, especially through the heartfield. It engages across time and space, including the ancestors, former lives, and spirit guides.
For me, as a spiritual practice, energy medicine is primarily about wholeness. The entirety of ourselves is included, all welcome, all informing and participating in who and what we are in this lifetime. Some of our experiences and “shadow” elements, in this or prior lives, become stuck or sludgy in the energy body, leading to distress, pain and, often, physical ailments. By clearing the sludginess, getting the energy moving again, reconnecting interrupted pathways, and activating cosmic, life-giving avenues, we come home to ourselves and our journey. We become more able, more capable of moving in the world as it is; more able and available to be filled with and transmit/radiate cosmic energies as our sacred gift to Life. We also become more contented in our own precious life – as in, “so this is who I am” – curious to see how this being wants to unfold and express and operate in the world. And we become more attuned to the miracle of our physical body; any ache or pain becomes a question – who’s unhappy, where’s the stuckness, does a part of this energy body need or want support?
Just as our physical body is an immense universe of cells, molecules, organs and operations that (incredibly!) cooperate to manifest a human being that is meaningful, coherent, functional and, yes, reasoning and capable of complex thought; so, too, the spiritual practice of energy medicine reveals that we are each of us intricate cells of a larger reality, that is a grander expression in the body of the Earth and/or the Cosmos. Cooperatively joining my energies with yours, and potentially with the energies of other (embodied and not) life-forms, we collectively evolve our species, our culture, our planet and beyond. We participate in Life itself and its developmental journey. All this from noticing what is going on in our individual bodies, emotions, habits and patterns; and being willing to engage with bringing ourselves into greater wholeness and health.
